This high energy, female fronted band from Tampa, FL combines a diverse range of influences including pop, alternative, progressive rock, indie, hard rock, metal, and math rock.
Vocalist Robin Carbonell and guitarist Adam Irizarry started what later became Malaya. Their first E.P. was recorded with producer Brooks Paschal (Versa Emerge, There For Tomorrow, Boyce Avenue, To Speak of Wolves) in March 2012.
During the Covid pandemic Malaya has acquired two new members; José “Cherique” Reyes on drums and Josué “Yoshi” Rodríguez on Rhythm and backup vocals. These new members bring high energy and new ideas to complement the band.
The band is working hard to create new music along with some of the original hits to keep with the same alternative rock style that Malaya is known for. As they look to add shows and branch out from the Tampa area, keep an eye on this highly motivated alt rock outfit as they will soon be headed to a town near you
