The Heavy Pets and Roosevelt Collier Band are teaming up for their 2nd ever co-billed run dubbed The “Free Energy Tour”. The two Florida based powerhouse live acts have long collaborated, but never joined forces for such a combined concerted effort. The run will bring them to 4 familiar sunshine state cities: Orlando, Jacksonville, Tampa and Boca Raton, while also promising to be the first leg of a larger dual effort, with plans to continue the Free Energy Tour elsewhere around the US in the late Summer and Fall.

The bands and their players have a deep history together, backing each other at various times on the road and appearing on each other’s records as Roosevelt did on the Pets’ most recent release “Strawberry Mansion” (2018). “This has been a long time coming,.” Says The Heavy Pets guitarist and vocalist Jeff Lloyd. “We have talked about this for a long time and I’m excited to finally be doing a cohesive run together, and starting off right in Florida is just perfect. Roosevelt has that magic to bring out the best in us and I look forward to a lot of intra-band jamming and some really great moments.” Roosevelt Collier adds “We plan on spreading as much free energy (good energy) thru music, to everyone we come in contact with!”

The Heavy Pets: The Heavy Pets are a funked-up rock and roll band from South Florida. Called “a living, breathing force of nature” by Relix magazine, they are known for their songcraft and powerhouse live performances. The band has been a mainstay on the national touring circuit for over a decade, and released its fourth full-length studio album Strawberry Mansion in February 2018.

The Pets are a seasoned live act, playing over 1200 shows across the country since their inception in 2005. The band’s energetic, extended sets have been described as “full blown musical salvation” that embodies the sound of their Florida home, weaving together elements of indie rock, funk and reggae into a style that is uniquely their own.

The group became an instant Sirius radio sensation upon the release of their debut album Whale in 2007. The crossover sound on their self-titled release, named a “Top 10 Album of 2010” by The Huffington Post, propelled them into the periphery of mainstream music. 2011 saw the release of Swim Out Past The Sun, an acoustic affair featuring longtime Jerry Garcia collaborator David Grisman. Beginning in 2013, the band put out a series of three EPs recorded at the legendary Power Station studios.

The Heavy Pets are currently touring in support of their latest release, Strawberry Mansion. Recorded in South Florida over the course of 2017, the self-produced double LP is the culmination of twelve years as a full-time act, presenting the band’s writing and musical versatility in peak form. The album is the truest representation of the unmistakable sound they are renowned for, and has logged over 1.5 million streams on Spotify in the year since its release.

Roosevelt Collier: Soft spoken by nature, South Florida-bred Roosevelt Collier does his hollering on the pedal steel guitar. Brought up in the “sacred steel” tradition of the House of God Church, Roosevelt built his reputation alongside his uncles and cousins as a founding member of The Lee Boys, known for their spirited, gospel soul-shaking live performances.
On the touring circuit Roosevelt is a regular “Artist at Large,” performing alongside many of music’s most prestigious acts, from the Allman Brothers, Tedeschi-Trucks, Los Lobos , the Del McCoury Band and countless others. Roosevelt is an integral part of the new project Bokanté – a “World Music Super Group” created by Snarky Puppy founder Michael League and featuring the vocals of Malika Tirolien, who have toured all over the world. As a bandleader, Roosevelt leads his world famous “get-downs” featuring a mixture of “superstars and church folk”, his own “Jimi Hendrix Experiment”-style all-star trio, and in 2018 released the long-awaited Roosevelt Collier debut record Exit 16, featuring an incredible mixture of blues, gospel, rock, and funk all rolled up by producer and bandmate Michael League released on the GroundUP Music label.

….. Peace & Love Roosevelt ….
